The Scooter Challenge is no ordinary ride—it's an epic endurance journey that kicks off on the fast-paced track of Teretonga and winds its way around the stunning, windswept coastline all the way to Te Anau. This isn’t just about reaching the finish line—it’s about the adventure, the camaraderie, and the breathtaking landscapes you’ll conquer on the way.
Think tight turns, sea spray, sweeping views, and plenty of laughs. Whether you’re a seasoned scooter rider or just up for a memorable mission, this ride will test your mettle and leave you with stories you’ll be telling for years. A journey of 194 kilometers to raise funds within The PlaceMakers Foundation, this year we are keeping it in the South again and supporting The Grace Street Project. The Challenge – More Than a Race This isn't about finishing first—it's about coming together. The Challenge is a powerful awareness and fundraising event, built by and for our community. It's a chance to stand beside families who need support, and to walk in solidarity with those who are passionate about making real change. By raising funds and shining a light on the mission of The Grace Street Project, we’re not just contributing—we’re becoming part of something meaningful. A movement, a shared journey, and a venture we can all be proud of. 2024 was our 8th time running our PlaceMakers Scooter Challenge and in total we have raised over half a million dollars for our chosen charities. The Challenge is not for the fainthearted, this is not a relaxing day out, it is designed to be the coldest, longest, hardest, most grueling and uncomfortable test of endurance on a city scooter to raise money and awareness for our chosen charity. The Grace Street Project is a community-led initiative aimed at addressing some of the key challenges faced by south Invercargill. With some of the highest deprivation communities and rates of youth exclusion and disadvantage in New Zealand, this project aims to provide a multi-purpose community building to help bridge the gap and provide opportunities for growth, learning and social connection. Registrations will be capped at x200 scooters this year and you are expected to raise a minimum of $200 per person or you will be removed from the challenge as we have other riders on a waiting list that are keen to raise funds and making a difference for our chosen charity. You can register yourself or your team from 15th July 2025. So, let's do our bit, grab a scooter, lodge your entry, get fundraising and do your bit to help a very worthy project. |
