The driving force behind the Southern Scooter Challenge is PlaceMakers Inverargill’s branch manager, Alister Rance.
Alister was inspired and charmed when he saw TV coverage of the second Tranz Apine Scooter Safari, a mass scooter ride from Christchurch to the West Coast that raised more than a hundred thousand dollars for charity.
Right away he made a commitment to bring the ride to the Southern roads, so contacted the Tranz Alpine Scooter Safari creators for their approval and assistance. So with that, the Southern Scooter challenge was born!
The Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand is the official charity of PlaceMakers and will benefit from all funds raised from the ride.
